The Night of Nights: Met Gala 2013

The famous Met Gala or also known as the Costume Institute Gala is overseen by none other than Vogue’s editor-in-chief’s Anna Wintour, whose responsible for both the benefit committee and the guest list. With some of the biggest names and faces all bracketed together, this is the night where fashion speaks volumes and is described as fashion industry’s “Night of Night’s”.This is the very event where fashion industry experts and style magazines are on their toes to critic and break down every sequin, lace, leather, and metallic detail to its core. It takes a great deal to stand out in a crowd like the one gathered on this past Monday night in New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art’s event. From the dresses to the accessories and even to the obscene looks on hair – this costume gala clearly did not disappoint.With the theme for the 2013 Met Gala as Punk: Chaos to Couture, artists and front-runners in the fashion industry tried to convey themselves as our top modern-day punk style icons. Formally acclaimed punk icons are Debbie Harry, Iggy Pop, The Sex Pistols, and the Ramones are just to name a few.Photo 1 - Nicole Richie, Getty  The exhibition was made possible Moda Operandi examining the punk style impact it has made in fashion and the trend it has set since the 1970s till modern day. The museum’s galleries featured approximately over 100 designs within the exhibition from original 70s punk garments down to the influential direction it has impacted to present day haute couture.
