RAINE: What drives you/motivates you to be part of the Web3 movement?

CAROLINE JOHNOVÁ: As a multi-disciplinary creative tech leader, I am driven by my passion for tech-for-good initiatives and the potential of web3 to create a more decentralized and equitable world. The idea of democratizing access to capital and empowering people to take control of their data and digital identity is what motivates me to be a part of the web3 movement.

RAINE: How did you get into web3?

JOHNOVÁ: I have always had a fascination with technology and its potential to drive positive change in the world. My interest in web3 specifically was sparked by the growing recognition of the limitations of the current centralized web and the need for a more open and secure web where users have control over their data and digital identity.

RAINE: What do you see as the future of web3?

JOHNOVÁ: I see a future where web3 becomes the dominant force in the digital world, enabling more secure, decentralized, and equitable experiences for people and organizations alike. The potential of web3 to disrupt traditional power structures and create new opportunities for growth and innovation is tremendous, and I believe we are just scratching the surface of what's possible.

RAINE: What are you building or helping to build in web3?

JOHNOVÁ: As the co-founder and CEO of WAGMI Guide, I am building a mobile platform that helps users discover and connect with emerging tech events worldwide, and stay informed and up-to-date with the latest developments in the field. Additionally, I am the founder of the "Women in Web3 Travels" community, which helps women in the industry connect and feel safe in a male-dominated field.

RAINE: What challenges do you see in the metaverse and web3 going forward?

JOHNOVÁ: One of the biggest challenges I see in the metaverse and web3 going forward is ensuring interoperability and compatibility across platforms and devices. With the rapid growth of the industry, it's important that standards are established to ensure seamless integration and user experiences. Additionally, ensuring the privacy and security of user data will be a critical challenge that must be addressed.

RAINE: What’s your perspective on how web3 has evolved?

JOHNOVÁ: I believe web3 has come a long way since its inception and is rapidly gaining momentum as more and more people become aware of its potential. The development of decentralized finance (DeFi) and non-fungible tokens (NFTs) has been a key driver of growth in the industry and has opened up new opportunities for innovation and growth.

RAINE: What words of wisdom would you have for women and minorities interested in getting involved in web3?

JOHNOVÁ: My advice for women and minorities interested in getting involved in web3 would be to embrace their unique perspectives and experiences, and not be intimidated by the male-dominated nature of the industry. On top of that, I believe it's so important to educate oneself on the technology and its potential, as well as seek out mentorship and networking opportunities to grow and succeed in the field.

RAINE: What helpful resources can you share for someone interested in entering web3?

JOHNOVÁ: There are many resources available for those interested in entering web3, including online courses, webinars, and conferences. I also recommend joining online communities and forums to connect with others in the industry and stay informed about the latest developments. What I personally enjoy the most is attending different events where I can have 1-1 conversations with people from all sorts of backgrounds. Additionally, if you are more technical I would say participating in hackathons and coding challenges can be a great way to develop skills and gain hands-on experience in the field.

RAINE: What potential innovations are you most excited about?

JOHNOVÁ: One of the innovations I'm particularly excited about in web3 is NFT ticketing. With the advent of NFTs and blockchain technology, we're starting to see a whole new world of possibilities in terms of ticketing and event management. NFT ticketing could potentially eliminate ticket fraud, reduce scalping, and provide more control and transparency in ticket distribution. Additionally, NFT ticketing can create unique, one-of-a-kind experiences for attendees that can be kept and cherished forever.

Another exciting innovation in web3 is mixed reality, where virtual and physical environments are blended together to create unique experiences. With the use of technologies like augmented reality and virtual reality, web3 has the potential to revolutionize entertainment, commerce, and education. In the future, we could see more immersive and interactive experiences that blur the lines between the virtual and physical world, providing endless possibilities for users to engage with content in new and exciting ways.
