This designer’s clothes understand the woman’s shape and figure more than most. Wes Gordon is a name synonymous with luxury, timeless elegance, and sophistication with a young, modern twist. He uses the finest fabrics, haute-couture detail, and his own unique take on today’s modern feminine style. His pieces are feminine, warm, youthful, and elegant. They’re suitable to a variety of women in all shapes and sizes with their flattering silhouette. Gordon hails from Atlanta, Georgia and attended the prestigious Lovett Preparatory School. Although he was accepted to many competitive universities, Gordon chose an alternative route to pursue what he loved most: fashion. In an interview with Harper’s Bazaar, Gordon says he realized he wanted to be a designer “when I realized that it was a job you could have. I was always drawing, I was always into clothes and film, and I think those things combine to a love of fashion.” He enrolled at the competitive and exclusive Central Saint Martins University of Art and Design in London (who boast John Galliano, Stella McCartney, Alexander McQueen and Phoebe Philo as some alumni) after his grade school years.During his time at CMS, Gordon was mentored by the great Howard Tangye, head of the legendary womenswear program. He influenced Gordon’s passion for bringing together art and fashion. He also fine tuned his skills between semesters learning the importance of knowing the woman for whom he was designing with legendary designers Tom Ford and Oscar de la Renta.London’s social scene also proved as an asset and testing ground for the young designer. Gordon designed and produced dresses for lady friends he befriended at parties and clubs, which formed him an early and loyal clientele. In 2009, he was awarded the prestigious and honorable Jenny Packham Bursary for Design Excellence and his graduation collection “The Glass Collection” was chosen to close the University’s press show. They don’t save the best for last for nothing!Following his 2009 graduation, Gordon presented his first collection in February at the Fall/Winter 2010 New York Fashion Week. Harrods and Saks Fifth Avenue included the collection immediately into their Fall/Winter 2010 sales. On top of that, Fashion Group International awarded Gordon him its coveted Rising Star award in January 2012. He’s not going to stop there either, so watch out for Wes Gordon and his up and coming womenswear line that’s sure to impress his diverse clientele.Info source:www.harpersbazaar.comwww.wesgordon.com
