Tracy Reese: the Lebron James of NYFW
It is a good week to be Tracy Reese, the American designer who is literally having the kind of week that Lebron James had this year. Wednesday night:It began with a dress—the dress—that First Lady Michelle Obama wore during her speech at the Democratic National Convention.
It was a simple, printed sleeveless dress. It was incredibly feminine, and paired with the pink J. Crew pumps, it was incredibly captivating—as was Michelle’s speech that night. Both gained the approval of “Project Runway”’s Tim Gunn.twitter.com/TimGunn Thursday morning:September 6, 2012, better known as Fashion’s Night Out, the kickoff to Mercedez-Benz New York Fashion Week.September 6, 2012, also known as Round 2 of Tracy Reese week.Reese made a morning appearance on the “Today” show, where she announced that she heard the cries of all the DNC viewers screaming, “I have to have that dress!” Thus, Reese and her team immediately went into production mode. Thursday night:And what does a girl do after she’s just been on national television? She dances, of course.Reese hosted her 3rd annual FNO event—a Dance-A-Thon at her Hudson St. location in the Meat Packing District.DJ Brooklyn Dawn oversaw the dancing while spinning everything from old school Montell Jordan (“This is How We Do It”) to Calvin Harris’s hit “Feel So Close.” Prizes were given out every hour to the best dancer(s), and everyone who spent over $400 was entered into a raffle to win a free piece from Reese’s fall collection. Not only does Reese excel at designing, she also throws amazing parties (as you can see below). These are just a few of the photos from the event. See here for the complete album. Sunday afternoon:Speaking of Reese’s collection, by the end of Thursday night, anticipation was high to see her looks for Spring 2013. If you weren’t at Reese’s show on Sunday, or you weren’t glued to the NY Fashion Week YouTube page, a few favorites are below.See here for the full show: nymag.comFrom Glamour mag to the girl next door, we were all in love with Reese’s collection.twitter.com/glamour_fashiontwitter.com/QueenofMediatwitter.com/LaForce_StevensHere’s to Tracy Reese and her week on top.
