The name is a tribute to his late grandmother and brings an elegantly cozy restaurant that showcases his delicious American cuisine. His professional background sets him apart from other chefs and his restaurant has built a solid reputation on serving up comfort foods with top-notch service. Chef Wagner was born and raised on Long Island, New York and relocated to Miami in the early 1990s. He graduated from the Culinary Institute of America in 1995 and found himself in the presence of esteemed chefs in South Florida. He worked in various high profile Miami kitchens and found himself working side by side with local legends such as Mark Militello (Mark’s Place), Johnny Vinczencz (Astor Place/ Johnny V), Tim Andriola (Timo) and Chef Allen Susser (Chef Allen’s). He served as an executive chef at Tuscan Steak from 1999 to 2003 and later served as executive chef at Perricone’s Marketplace and Café. His aspirations then began to own his own restaurant, and he finally fulfilled his dreams. He concentrated on developing the menu, concept and décor for Lola’s on Harrison and making it value-oriented with a neighborhood restaurant personality. It didn’t take long for the restaurant to skyrocket to the top. It went from being Wagner’s vision to being one of the “Top 20 Best New Restaurants in Florida” according to Florida Trend Magazine and rated “Best Restaurant in South Broward” by New Times Best of 2008. Chef Wager emphasizes the concepts of fresh and simple. His menu features award winning appetizers and entrees.
