SCAD FASH
As a booming metropolis in the heart of the South, Atlanta is the cultural and economic center of the Atlanta metropolitan area, and home to SCAD FASH, the largest museum dedicated to fashion in the United States. Atlanta has a similar feel to other Southern cities such as Charlotte, NC and Houston,TX, however, it is infinitely more eccentric. At the heart of it all is a flourishing arts scene and near limitless opportunities for growth for entrepreneurs throughout the city. While there is plenty to enjoy if you are a history and/or architecture enthusiast, Atlanta is equally endowed with a vibrant nightlife and a culturally diverse environment filled with world-class museums, parks, fine dining, and shopping to create a city with Southern charm and sophistication. Apart from the fantastic cuisine you can find on every corner in Atlanta, you can also view a plethora of art and other exhibits. SCAD FASH is one of the best examples of the interesting entertainment the city has to offer. With nearly 10,000 square feet at its disposal, SCAD FASH delivers mind-expanding, beautiful works of art made by SCAD students to the public. SCAD FASH embraces and celebrates the craft and importance of fashion; a connecting thread knowing no boundaries of language, age or culture. As Domenico De Sole, chairman of Tom Ford International stated, "SCAD FASH exemplifies the university’s commitment to fashion for both students and professionals.” SCAD FASH is a teaching museum, which provides students of every shape and size the tools and avenues needed to create uniquely inspired individual pieces and bodies of work. The museum is a key contributor to the overall success and intensive program at SCAD, which provides a diverse and year-round program, including over 40 majors and 60 minors from textiles to jewelry design; more than any other art and design university.Current exhibitions at SCAD FASH include A Fashionable Mind: Photographs by Jonathan Becker and Be Yourself; Everyone Else is Already Taken by London-based artist Daniel Lismore. Recent past exhibits include an Oscar de la Renta exhibit, shown this past fall. SCAD FASH is a significant global player, using worldwide connections with contemporary designers, filmmakers and other creative professionals to fortify the university, its students and the city of Atlanta.Oscar de la Renta: Tulle and silk taffeta robe de style Fall/Winter 2012.
