The Stage Mother of all Musicals: Ruthless!
Ruthless!, a Broadway classic composed by Marvin Laird and written by Joel Paley, returns to the stage for a limited run at St. Luke’s Theater in New York City after twenty-two years.
During its original run, Ruthless! received a Drama Desk Award and the Outer Circle Award for Best Musical to support Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. This musical is a comical parody poking fun at the world of show business and those who are willing to do anything to be apart of it. With support from Tracy Jai Edwards, Peter Land, Kim Maresca, Rita McKenzie and Andrea McCullough, Tori Murray leads the cast as the endearingly hellish Tina Denmark (previously played by Britney Spears and Natalie Portman), a pretty third grader who will do what ever it takes to be a child star and play the lead in her school musical.

Laird portrays the domineering diva, Sylvia St. Croix, Tina’s talent agent, adding to Ruthless’ funny factor. Kim Maresca plays the cookie cutter 1950’s housewife, (pearls and apron included) turned heartless fame chaser. This must see musical with 10-year-old leading lady, Tori Murray, reminds us of the timeless adage that age is just a number… at least on this stage.
This riot of a musical began performances on June 25th. Specific dates, times, and ticket prices can be found on the show’s website: http://www.ruthlessthemusical.com or by calling (212) 239-6200.
