PRINDIE Princeton Independent Film Festival Presents its 5th Annual Film Festival Co-Hosted by Princeton University's UCHV Film Forum
With 24 short films and 3 features including Neon’sHONEYLAND, the most awarded film at Sundance, a pre-release screening of A24's THE DEATH OF DICK LONG anda special screening of DEMONS IN PARADISE followed by adiscussion with the director, Jude Ratnam and UCHVDirector, Erika Kiss.
WHAT/WHO
PRINDIE: Princeton Independent Film Festival is going into its 5th year and was just approved as a 501(c)(3) organization in June. We are on a mission to work with the talented filmmakers we showcase to leave our audiences both inspired and poised for action - putting the impactful medium of film at the forefront of change that is good for the planet and good for its people. This year we are focusing on the environment, mental health, and cultural
diversity. We are fortunate to have the support of Princeton University’s Carl A Fields Center for Equality and Cultural Understanding and are excited to be co-hosted by Princeton University's UCHV Film Forum. We are also happy to announce the UCHV Film Forum Director, Erika Kiss, as our 2019 Honorary Jury Member who will be responsible for breaking any ties that should arise from our sitting jury during their voting process. THE SPECIFICS
Saturday, September 21st
Saturday morning will begin with the PRINDIE Filmmaker Pitch Competition for the RIANEFilmmaker Award. The winner of this award will receive $1000 cash prize as well as a financialand script analysis from Slated (a $995 value). The jury for this award includes Nova Raine,the Editor in Chief at RAINE Magazine, Erika Kiss, the Director of the UCHV Film Forum, BobYoung, owner of Young Private Wealth Management, Sara McDermott, PRINDIE’s Founder,and Ryan McDonald, PRINDIE’s Programming Director. These pitches are not open to thepublic, and the results will be announced on the website.
Starting at 2:00 pm, the public events will start where we will be showcasing 3 blocks of in-competition short films, two of which will be followed by special Q&A’s. The first will be sponsored by SAGindie with Sundance
Writer's Lab and Sundance Sloan Foundation semifinalist, Jingjing Tian and SAGindie representative Eliza Hajek on Jingjing’s film COWBOY JOE.
The second Q&A will be sponsored by Carl A Fields Center for Equality and Cultural Understanding and will be with A.V. Rockwell (2019 Sundance Directors Lab Fellow/ One of Filmmaker Magazines Top 25 Faces of Independent Cinema in 2019) and Academy Award Nominee Kevin H. Wilson regarding A.V.’s film FEATHERS.
The final film of the day will be an out-of-competition, special pre-release screening of A24’sTHE DEATH OF DICK LONG (Rated R), followed by a free after-party with foodprovided by Eventix LLC, and free wine and beer sponsored by Hopewell HouseWines and Liquors and served up by Sip Beverage Company.
Sunday, September 22nd
Sunday will include 4 blocks of films. The first three will include our in-competition short filmsas well as a surprise screening of the most voted for short film by a Princeton UniversityStudent (voting will be taking place online by Princeton Univeristy faculty, staff and students)that will be followed by a Q&A with the director and Erika Kiss, Princeton University's UCHVFilm Forum Director.
The second block of films, the “Beautiful Minds” block, will be accompanied by a talk from NAMI Mercer County to discuss mental health first aid alongside these short films that touch on individuals in different psychological states.

The final film block will be two out-of competition films.
The goal of this block is to gather together beekeepers in the
area along with our student and general audience to enjoy a
screening of the short documentary A PASSION OF GOLD
AND FIRE and to then learn about native pollinators with a live talk by Judith K. Robinson.The night will end with the feature-length documentary HONEYLAND, the most awarded filmat Sundance 2019.
Monday, September 22nd
Monday, the UCHV Film Forum Presents, at the PRINDIE Film Festival, Jude Ratnam visitingfrom Sri Lanka to screen his film DEMONS IN PARADISE, a documentary film that is a first-hand count of the Civil War in Sri Lanka. Following the screening of his film, UCHV Directer,Erika Kiss will hold a discussion with Jude to conclude the 2019 Princeton Independent FilmFestival.
