A big up and coming shoe designer to look out for is Jerome C. RousseauJerome C. Rousseau first launched his label in Fall 2008. Born in Quebec, he became interested in design through art and music. “I started drawing shoes as a teenager after watching a Deee-Lite videoclip. I was influenced by its unique styling, but it was the overstated retro footwear that first caught my attention.”Jerome’s designing skills were perfected and worked on for ten years in London and Los Angeles. There he worked with Matthew Williamson, Isabella Fiore, John Richmond, and John Rocha. In London he had gained strong knowledge in footwear design at London’s Cordwainers College. In July 2010, Vogue Italia awarded his label with the prestigious “Who Is On Next” accessories prize.Other heavy inspirations to Jerome’s designing are modern art, European design, pop culture and nightlife. “I initially think in terms of shape, silhouette and structure when I design. It’s later on that I bring fashion into the equation.” His distinctive style and design are what makes him stand out from other shoe designers. His creations, which are handcrafted in Italy, can be seen in Vogue, Elle, Bazaar and other worldwide publications.It takes a special kind of person to be an accomplished designer.
