Palace Hotel Tokyo: Come One, Come All
When we travel, we like to stay in beautiful places filled with lovely décor, and eat scrumptious food while drinking refined alcoholic beverages. That’s just how we roll. It doesn’t really make a difference if the hotel is new or old, as long as it’s got something special about it, and of course, fits the above requirements. So when we came across a newly renovated establishment that has accumulated a rather long and elaborate history, we were all ears. The establishment is called Palace Hotel Tokyo. Beautiful, spacious and completely up our alley, the newly renovated hotel is situated on the remains of its two predecessors – Hotel Teito and Palace Hotel. The former was first opened in 1947 to accommodate the influx of builders, business people, and diplomats flooding the capital to help with post-war efforts. It was actually converted into one from the Forestry Office of the Imperial Household. However, by October in 1961, it was reincarnated as the Palace Hotel, which was considered to be the most contemporary one of its time. According to their website, the original Palace hotel featured some 459 rooms with updated appliances, and its outside was clad with 1.6 million Shigaraki tiles. But in 2009, the Palace Hotel was the subject of yet another major renovation that has propelled the establishment back to its former glory and prestige. Simple and attractive, it’s supremely comfortable but not too busy. The leafy patterns and calming earth tones are a nice contrast to the super industrial city sprawling outside. The hotel has also scaled back on the number rooms, currently there are 290 of them. However, they are available in different sizes and range from 45 square meters to some seriously impressive 255 square meters. New features such as open style bathrooms and various terraces add a little bit of extra splendor. More so, there are several amazing restaurants to be found on premises, as well as a couple of swanky bars and even a deli for self-sufficient residents.Of course, it also has an incredible spa inspired by the cascading mineral waters found in the French Alps. If you’re interested in renewed vitality or mineral enrichment treatments, you can get them at the super cool Spa Tokyo. Naturally, it also features a pool, treatment rooms, steam rooms and saunas, and heated pools. So, when are you booking your stay?
