A Pleasant Detour: Pacific City

Being a resident in the ample city of New York, there are little to no moments where one can leave these hastily streets of the big city to slip away. Propitiously, a friend of mine invited me to join his hometown festivities. For the modernized individuals who know of Portland: the stereotypical picture of Portland-ians would be an array of coffee shops, homegrown crops/floras, and rallies of well-dressed hipsters. Indeed, that part of town was explored and be that as it may – it was undeniably not the favored portion of the trip. A detour ensued and ultimately ended up at Pacific City, a mellow town surrounding Nestucca Valley. A hidden gem, Haystack Rock is nestled in South Tillamook Country, Oregon and one sublime haven. Top of the Haystack Rock, Pacific City. This pub is known to have been in the world list for top 25 beers in 2008, 2009, 2010 even winning the Great American Beer Festival’s prestigious “Brewpub of the Year” award, three times. With a restaurant leading in pairing with food and beer, this is one pit-stop you don’t want to miss if you’re ever in the west coast that is. The luxurious, oceanfront cottages at Cape Kiwanda are anticipating your arrival. Photo courtesy of Tina Chen. Being that we are only part of the 30% of Earth, the Pacific waters will have you discern a different prospective – one that a big city cannot benefit.
