After traveling thousands of miles by air and sea to reach Antarctica, increasing numbers of guests on Poseidon Expeditions’M/V Sea Spirit, a 114-passenger luxury vessel, want to immerse themselves in the environment as deeply as possible. They can do this in two ways: sea kayaking and camping.

On select voyages optional kayaking excursions are available through the company’s exclusive Sea Kayak Club in both the Arctic and Antarctica. This program utilizes exceptionally stable tandem sea kayaks and is supervised by one or more qualified sea kayak guides and accompanied by a dedicated safety Zodiac (security boat). Before stepping into the kayaks guests receive a comprehensive orientation and safety drilland don polar-quality Kokatat paddling suits and paddling-specific life jackets. Guests can expect a real workout on these excursions that are on water sometimes for up to three hours, requiring paddling for up to six nautical miles or 10 kilometers. Supplemental fees of $595 are assessed for kayaking while on Arctic voyages and from $750 on voyages around Antarctica.
