Photographer Jess Jessing showcases his love and awe for nature through his breathtaking photographs.Jeff Jessing has always had a fascination with nature and a desire to be wrapped up in it. Early in his pursuit for all things “wild and raw,” a passion grew within him that was impossible to ignore. At the same time, Jeff was pursuing an education and career path that countered his desire to work in and protect our environment- he received a doctorate degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering. Jeff spent several years after that working as a senior staff scientist at a nuclear weapons national laboratory, followed by several years teaching and researching semiconductor and microelectromechanical devices as a professor of Electrical Engineering. In 2006, Jeff realized this path wasn’t exactly for him, so he left the security of a career in engineering and academia to pursue his passion, nature. It is Jeff’s desire and eye-opening experiences that help bring the wonders of our natural world to others in the hopes that people’s desire to protect and conserve our resources grows. Jeff, a self-taught photographer, has been leading photography workshops since 2004, just as a hobby, and began a full-time photography business in 2006 after leaving his engineering world. For most of the year, Jeff is out in the far off regions of the world photographing. In July 2007, Jeff opened Nature Revealed Gallery on the picturesque Oregon coast. Just three years later, Nature Revealed Gallery was relocated to Jeff’s childhood home in Durango, Colorado. He has fine art photographs in collections around the world, and his photographs have appeared in various publications regionally, nationally and internationally.
