According to Facebook’s year-end 2010 accounting, three million users listed their relationship status as “it’s complicated.” Men and women around the world saw these figures and became discouraged. Professional matchmaker Paul Carrick Brunson saw the data and decided to do something about it.Brunson’s book, “It’s Complicated (But It Doesn't Have to Be),” is tagged as the “modern guide to finding and keeping love.” Brunson has updated the rulebook to dating and mating, pulling in research, drawing from his own experiences, and rolling with the tide of modern-day technology.“Technology rules in our relationships,” Brunson explained, calling it a valuable resource within the world of dating. “It’s our application of it that really screws people up,” he said.Before he began writing the book, Brunson set out to answer the question, Is it truly complicated, or are we just overcomplicating it?His answer to that question floods the pages of “It’s Complicated…” in 21 chapters. While Brunson gives realistic (yet optimistic) advice on love and dating, he also finds a way to intertwine the art of how to manage technology in relationships with chapters “Move Online to Off-line, Quickly” and “You Will Be Googled,” among others.When asked to sum up his book in one word, Brunson responded with “fresh.” Hopefully, that means a change in Facebook relationship statuses in the future. “It’s Complicated (But It Doesn't Have to Be)” is available on Brunson's website.
