Mr. Brainwash

Sounds interesting, right? This artist’s unconventional style is not one to be overlooked. Mr. Brainwash is an appropriate name for Los Angeles-based filmmaker and Pop artist Thierry Guetta. His artwork is mesmerizing, and you can’t take your eyes away from the bright colors and cartoon graphics. He has spend the last decade attempting to make the ultimate street art documentary, and after gaining inspiration from his filmed subjects, he’s hit the streets himself equipped with spray paint to create his pop art inspired images. Mr. Brainwash made his art show debut, Life is Beautiful, with one of Los Angele’s more memorable solo exhibitions. His exhibition also featured larger than life installations of a 20-foot robot made of old televisions, a life-sized recreation of Edward Hopper’s Nighthawks and a pyramid made from 20,000 books. In 2009, Madonna asked him to design the cover of her greatest hits compilations, Celebration. In 2010, Mr. Brainwash made his New York solo debut as he unveiled Icons, a 15,000 square-foot exhibition in the heart of Manhattan’s renowned Meatpacking District. This show featured painting and silk screens of world icons, portraits of music legends constructed from broken records and large-scale sculptural installations like a giant boom box and NYC cab. Mr. Brainwash is one of the most talked about artists today with his use of eccentric materials that create larger than life and in your face modern art. His exhibitions are one-of-a-kind that brainwash individuals into seeing them over and over.
