A Sexy Heist: Marilyn Monroe Exhibit Stolen

Marilyn Monroe was one of the most photographed characters of her time, and her sheer image is art in and of itself. The blonde beauty’s life, image and story still fascinate and heavily influence modern-day society.  So, it was no surprise when we heard some of the actress’ exhibition was stolen! MM1Last year the Salvatore Ferragamo Museum in Florence, Italy designed, created and planned a Marilyn Monroe exhibit featuring tantalizing outfits, iconic photographs, and select diary entries commemorating the 50th anniversary of her death. As the actress’ most desirable shoe designer, the partnership was ideal. And after a largely successful run, late last week, elements of the exhibit were hi-jacked en route to Prague Castle.Marilyn Monroe Exhibition at Getty Images Gallery - 1955MM4Exhibit curator, Jan Trestik noted a truck transporting the exhibits mannequins and photographs – in addition to other luxury goods – was raided in an apparent coordinated heist in Central Czech Republic. Immediately following its stint in Prague, the exhibit was scheduled to be moved to Tokyo. As Spokesman for the Prague Castle, David Sebek did however take the time to confirm most of the elements had already arrived untouched. As of Monday, May 27, 2013 the pieces had been identified but had not been located and the case was still under investigation.Photos courtesy Getty Images.
