MADE It Happen, Again
On May 14, 2012, modern music and entrepreneurial icon, Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter, took to Philadelphia’s historic Benjamin Franklin Parkway – with Mayor Michael Nutter – to officially announce Labor Day’s Made In America Music Festival presented by Budweiser. One year later, and here we are again…as excited as we have ever been…this time, about the sequel. An idea to provide a diverse set of music’s most captivating acts from Janelle Monae, Santigold, and Gary Clarke, Jr. to the likes of Run DMC, Drake, Skrillex, Jay-Z, Kanye West and Pearl Jam, to music lovers across the world, Mr. Carter along with the diligent team at Budweiser impressively worked a massive gathering. Philadelphia, the major metropolitan city that it is, had never endured revelry of such magnitude. The entire event was live-streamed via YouTube, arranged for those unable to apply the logistics that come with physical attendance, to enjoy the festivities in the comfort of their own homes. It was an amazing experience either, one each attendee – be it, physical or virtual – may have thought to be a once-in-a-lifetime, highlighting just over 40 performers on four different stages. Mind-blowing, would probably be considered an understatement. Well, as history would have it, those “once-in-a-lifetimers” were wrong. The 2013 Made In America Music Festival has been confirmed and is set for August 31 – September 1 in Philadelphia, PA. This year’s lineup is just as stacked as it’s inaugural’s, with artists such as Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Kendrick Lamar, Emeli Sande, Phoenix, Public Enemy, Miguel, Nine Inch Nails and Beyonce…and that’s just to name a few. I am almost positive viewers can expect an event-filled weekend with music surprises galore. RAINE Magazine will assuredly have representatives both physically and virtually present keeping our audience abreast of the happenings.
