Don't Believe Me, Just Watch: Samsung To Develop Their Own Timepiece

Before we get knee deep into this, ask yourself these two questions: Do you remember the last time you left the house without a mobile device? AND who doesn’t appreciate a good wristwatch?Samsung_620x350 These are probably the exact questions Samsung developers asked themselves when they embarked on their latest project to move the way society utilizes technology, forward. A Samsung executive told Bloomberg that, along with Apple, it too has been working on wearable devices that function similarly to the smartphones we have all grown to love today."We've been preparing the watch product for so long. We are working very hard to get ready for it. We are preparing products for the future, and the watch is definitely one of them." Samsung’s Mobile Business Executive Vice President, Lee Young Hee to Bloomberg. SPAIN-TELECOM-MOBILE-WORLD-CONGRESSAlthough no details on the watch were published prior to, during, or after (as of press time) the interview, the general public can expect a big year from the South Korean tech giant, as, in addition to rumored wristwatch release, they plan to roll out several new smartphones. Fully aware of the competition, Samsung aims to apply pressure wherever they can. Lee told Bloomberg, “The issue here is who will be first to commercialize it so consumers can use it meaningfully.” The affirmation comes almost immediately following reports that surfaced last month of Apple diligently working on what is often referred to, by media and bystanders alike, as “iWatch.”In reports filled with rumor and speculation, there is one known fact. Unlike Apple, Samsung manufactures their own data chips and display screens, indicating they should be able to undercut Apple, significantly, on production and retail price on such a device. However, until an official specification report on these watches sees the light of day, we are in the dark. Moreover, in the dark, every one’s watch looks the same, right?Image Source: Getty Images
