Girl Power
This comedian can hold her own in the harsh world of standup comedy. Jena Friedman isn’t just a comedian. This seemingly innocent woman is the total package; she’s also a writer, actor and filmmaker who’s putting her good talent to use in New York. She’s currently a writer for Late Show with David Letterman and her work has also been featured in New York Magazine, Newsweek, Glamour and Comedy Central, just to name a few. What’s really exciting is the fact that her addition to the writing staff on the Late Show marks the first time in the history of the show that more than one woman has been on staff. Her work takes her all over the world. She most recently performed stand up comedy at The Glasgow International Comedy Festival, The Pranzo in Paris, France and The Kukabarra Comedy Club in Berlin, Germany. Jena has also appeared in music videos, sketches on Atom.com, and was recently the female lead in American Florence, an independent feature film shot in Italy and expected to be released this fall. On top of that, she wrote The Refugee Girls Revue: A Musical Parody inspired by American Girl Dolls. The play received critical acclaim in the New York International Fringe Festival. You can catch some of Jena’s performances in the East Village every month called “Entertaining the Bartender.” You can bet the show lives up to its name. Info source: http://www.jenafriedman.com/
