Fashion Week Coverage - Project Runway, Season 13 Finale

Project Runway presented its finale show on September 5 at 9:45 am. For perhaps the first time during the entire season, the designers, in the words of Amanda Valentine and , were given an opportunity to be “free” to present a collection “with no limits.”Sean Kelly, inspired by two of his most popular looks from the Project Runway season, a tuxedo pant and Heidi’s cobalt fringe number, combined chic styling with a zest for the good life. Standouts included a silky black jumpsuit with a fringed scarf detailing; and the closing look, a full on tangerine fringe halter dress with a surprising cascade of tassels down the back.Kini Zamora also built his collection on pieces that resonated with the judges early on. His pleating game was perfection. In a series of gunmetal dresses Zamora strategically placed pleats for dramatic effect- extending from shoulders, cropped just above waists and circling at the knee.Korina Emmrich, seemingly emboldened by her episode 7 win combining Chopard gems with an ethnic printed floor length coat turned up the volume even more with rock girl styling. Using leathers in primary colors, some printed with graphic checkerboards and others with ribbon cut sleeves, Emmrich presented a modern take on the motto jacket. Other notables included light weight leather skirts, cropped tops and dresses with cubic patterns in alternating white, cobalt and green.Just about all the designers benefitted from having a budget of $9000 and 4 weeks to create a seminal collection. Celebrity judges Heidi Klum, Nina Garcia, Zac Posen and Emma Rossum have a difficult decision to make.
