Fashion Face-Off with Ice Hockey in Harlem
Fashion moguls, models and athletes, watch out, because Hockey and Haute Couture became one at this year's (2014) Ice Hockey in Harlem's (IHIH) Fashion Face-Off.
The NYC based non-profit organization hosted their second annual Fashion Face-Off at The Providence in midtown NYC at 7pm on September 3rd, during New York Fashion Week. More than 300 guest and attendees came out to support the event, filled with fashion enthusiasts to encourage proceeds benefiting Ice Hockey in Harlem.
Meshing the brash and hard-hitting themes of hockey with the most stylish and avant-garde fashion pieces, this not-so-typical runway competition was one for the ages. 10 designers competed for the chance to land a coveted spot and full layout in an upcoming issue of Raine Magazine. Being judged by the experts themselves, the designers had to bring the heat and dress to impress not only fashion moguls such as executive producer and creator of NBC's "Fashion Star", EJ Johnston, but the hockey pros themselves.
Other notable celebrities and athlete’s that came out to support Ice Hockey In Harlem were, Mike Cammalleri, NHL player from New Jersey Devils ; Ron Duguay from the MSG Network and former NHL player from the New York Rangers; Jeremiah Hunter, NFL Player of the New Orleans Saints; Nolé Marin – Former Judge from the TV show “America’s Next Top Model;” Designer Maria Valentino; Model Actor Justin Coale; and Designer Robert Stock, co-Founder of Chaps and founder of Robert Graham, and many more.
This year’s winner was Designer, David Isaac, who showcased chic modern silhouettes with strong attention to details. The runner up in this year’s face-off was Emily Li, with Designer, Prativa Karki placing third.
Sponsors for this years Fashion Face-Off included, Yonkers Brewing Company, Double Cross Vodka, Gregory White, Diva Design and Raine Magazine.
Who says fashion and sports don't go together? Coming off an extremely successful launch in 2013, IHIH's Fashion Face-Off challenges the top up-and-coming designers to bring their 'A' game and hit the runway with style.
