A Whole New ZAGAT
If you love good grub and kicking nightspots then you're probably familiar with ZAGAT. Since it’s debut in 1979, it has become a staple reference for people looking to enjoy a night out on the town, however the future of ZAGAT was rather uncertain after it was acquired by Google in 2011. The giant company may have elected to merge it with something like Places or get rid of it altogether, which would have been rather unfortunate, but instead it announced the launch of ZAGAT'S new website and mobile app for Android and iPhone.According to yesterday's Google Blog post by Gannon Hall, the head of ZAGAT and Group Product Manager, the featured content will now be available to the general public and not just those who sign up for the service. Carefully curated lists, video updates, and latest news from local experts will provide more useful information that ever before making it much easier for users to decide where to go.http://youtu.be/Ep3iIDDDlaMAs the main problem with online reviews is that they are often unreliable, ZAGAT'S summaries of various spots and venues will help the public “cut through the clutter” of bad content. So far, information pertaining to nine cities is currently available, but the company hopes to expand to all of the United States in the coming months. That is, not to mention its plans to go international and cover shopping spots, hotels and accommodations, as well as other useful attractions around the globe. It's safe to say that Google is implementing the long term changes in hungry anticipation of ZAGAT's widespread success. And we can't wait to see it either. Information and Image Source: Google Blog
