A Palace of Luxury: Aman Canal Grande
The northeastern Italian city of Venice is comprised of some 118 islands linked by arching bridges that stretch across its famed canals. Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it’s not just an artistic and architectural marvel - with more than 170 buildings between 200-700 years old - but also a destination synonymous with romance. But where do you stay when you are visiting one of the most beautiful and amorous cities in the world? How about the luxurious Aman Canal Grande? The breathtaking hotel just recently opened on June 1st.To get to the hotel, guests have to arrive by boat. The building in which the Aman is housed was built in the 16th century. Decorated in the 19th century so as to resemble the Renaissance and Rococo styles of it’s past, its 24 suits still retain the original frescoes, ornate designs and historical features of its luxurious heyday. Yet the hotel’s furnishings are modern and minimalist creating a rather unusual but strangely harmonious aesthetic, which seamlessly blends time and taste across the centuries. What’s even more impressive is that the hotel also features a rooftop terrace and two private gardens, something that is virtually unheard of in Venice. Located in San Polo, one of the oldest parts of the city, it is close to an abundance of shops and restaurants that make it easy to enjoy a romantic night in the lover’s capital of Europe.Image Source: Aman Resorts- Aman Canal Grande Venice
