A Little Getaway

This little winery is the perfect place for a weekend vacation. Lake Anna WineryLake Anna Winery, located in Spotsylvania, Virginia, brings a peaceful and laid-back atmosphere where guests can enjoy their different selections of wine. The idea of Lake Anna Winery began in France in 1981, where the most elegant and tasteful wine is produced. Bill Heidig noticed some similarities between the climate and soil in France to that of his farm in Spotsylvania. Upon returning to his farm, he convinced his wife to plant a vineyard. After taking seminars on grape growing and winemaking, two years later the Heidigs planted more than 2,000 Seyval Blanc and 250 Cabernet Sauvignon vines. After many successful seasons of selling over 28 tons of grapes to Virginia wineries and turning them into award winning wines, the Heidigs decided the time was ripe to take their business to the next level. Enter Lake Anna Winery, housed in an old barn on the Heidig farm. Bill’s two sons, Jeff and Eric, eventually took over the family business.  Bill, upon seeing this transition, expanded the winery into a new, open-use multi-tasking room, with a climate-controlled case-goods warehouse and a new tank room.Lake Anna WineryThe wines at Lake Anna provide a palette of diversity to accommodate a wide range of tastes for guests. The red wines consist of: a 2007 Morgan Merlot, a 2007 Bellhaven Cabernet Franc, Spotsylvania Claret, Totally Red, and Enigme. The white wines consist of a 2009 Seyvalblanc, 2008 Barrel Select Chardonnay, and Totally White. The Sweet Wines consist of Lake Side White, Lake Side Sunset, Lake Side Red, 2008Essensual. The Special labels are Monrie Chardonnay, Washinton Monroe, Caroline Street White Wine, Old Town Blush Table Wine, and William Street Red Wine. This beautiful vineyard is the perfect place to relax while on vacation, and better yet, the money spent goes back to their local business.Source: www.lawinery.com
