A Great Comedy

Before the rush of end-of-the-year movie releases, let's reflect on one of our favorite comedy's that was recently in theaters: 30 Minutes or LessDirected by Ruben Fleischer, the action-comedy stars Jesse Eisenberg and Aziz Ansari as two friends faced with the critical dilemma of one of them being strapped with a bomb placed by two crime partners seeking bank robbery money. The two crime partners are played by Danny McBride, and Nick Swardson. Even though the film is a comedy, it is loosely based on a serious incident of a bank robbery in Pennsylvania where a pizza delivery worker was killed due to a bomb attached to his neck blowing up.Ansari, a popular comedian who just finished up his Dangerously Delicious stand-up tour and will be lending his voice over on the next Ice Age, is no stranger to amusing people on the screen. Having played characters in Get Him to the Greek, Human Giant, Funny People, and NBC’s Parks and Recreations, Ansari’s roles have all been those with a sense of humor bursting out through the scenes. His sarcastic and witty lines have made him popular not just with everyday regular fans but also of those in the celebrity world. He has been seen with Kanye West on numerous occasions, and also landed the opportunity to host the MTV Movie Awards.Eisenberg, best known for his role of the Facebook creation movie The Social Network, added an element of comedy that is a bit different from the likes of his co-star. Whereas Ansari has the comedy attributes of your stand-up show guy, Eisenberg has the dry and nonchalant humor of one who is funny outside of the profession of being funny. As seen in his role as Mark Zuckerberg in The Social Network, the humor of Eisenberg isn’t rapid or fast at all. It is a delayed hit to the funny bone that will result in laughter after the scene has ended. The pairing of the two was the perfect mesh of different comedic styles that led to one of the best funny movies of the summer. If you missed it theaters...make sure to pick it up on video.
