Who said eco-friendly couldn’t be trendy?
Twelve years ago, Dawes Design was born. Jennifer Dawes created sustainable jewelry that is also magnificent and unique. Each piece showcases a combination of her love of ancient civilizations with modern culture and design. These hand made pieces hail from rural Sonoma County, California. Dawes explains, “I try to let the material speak for itself. I strip the designs back to their essential components and in doing this they become very feminine, subtle and organic.”
Before the launch of her collection, Dawes attended a fine arts program with an emphasis in metalsmithing. That was a life changing and defining time for her and really solidified what she wanted to do. “The moment I began touching and feeling metal, I had a profound understanding of what I wanted to do with my life. Learning how to manipulate this hard, shiny material was like magic to me and I have been passionate about it ever since,” Dawes said. Dawes evolution was two-folded. At first her fabulous collection had a geometric and sharp feel, but as Dawes became more skilled and knowledgeable in her craft, her work evolved to a relaxed feeling with flowing shapes and silhouettes. The second part of the development was her rise to the forefront on the green movement in jewelry in 2005. Since then she has only used recycled gold and responsibly minded stones that compose a bohemian and elegant line.
Dawes Design is one eco-friendly and sophisticated line to look out for in the jewelry world. Her gorgeous pieces make a subtle statement and they’re the perfect addition to any summer wardrobe!
